Meet the deans

The three deans of elementary camp (or the Tri-Deans, as Dean Milt calls them) work together throughout the year to plan and provide a smoothly run week for campers. Although their duties overlap, they each specialize in certain parts of the elementary camp program.

Dean Milt: "Program Director"
Dean Milt has had sixteen years of experience as an elementary camp dean and has been involved with Michigamme since 1975. As a middle school science teacher, he knows how to relate to kids. His deaning duties include planning evening programs, dealing with the puzzle that is cabin requests and assignments, and the general day-to-day running of elementary camp.

Dean Jen: "Personnel Director"
Jen has been a Camp Michgamme counselor since 1995, a weekend retreat dean since 2000, and an elementary camp dean since 2004. Her main deaning duties include hiring and training counselors and then assisting those counselors with any challenges they may face throughout the week.

Dean Phil: "Spiritual Director"
Pastor Phil is an experienced camp dean and minister. He ministers to the campers through a fascinating combination of scripture and fun stories. He strives to find creative ways for the kids to be active participants in worship, and is always excited when campers want to stay after chapel time concludes to further discuss his messages about Jesus Christ.
